Job Description:
An IT Studio Support Specialist at BUCK provides first-line technical support to staff whilst managing the day-to-day IT needs of the physical facility. This role requires a blend of technical skills and customer service abilities, as you'll be directly interacting with users and troubleshooting their issues. You will be working closely with Animation, VFX, and Creative Design artists, empowering them to focus on their craft without technical roadblocks. The position is based in our Amsterdam office and reports to the Head of Technology, Infrastructure Operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive IT support to staff, primarily artists and producers, encompassing workstation set-up, hardware/software troubleshooting, and conference room technology assistance.
Maintain and optimise the studio's technical infrastructure, including data centre support, cloud solutions, servers, storage, and remote work setups.
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues impacting software, hardware, and systems, focusing on challenges faced by artists and developers.
Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure technical project requirements are met, offering innovative solutions and proactive problem-solving.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on studio equipment, including audio/video systems and video conferencing platforms like Google Meet and Zoom.
Manage and improve network, storage configurations, backend servers, and deployment tools for optimal efficiency.
Conduct training sessions on new technologies and document quality standards, system anomalies, operational procedures, and project work.
Foster strong partnerships with internal engineering teams and production leadership to ensure technical needs and creative goals are aligned.
Contribute to maintaining and updating IT documentation, ensuring clear and accurate information is readily available.
Support and assistance with electrical devices in the studio and additional support with on-site programming, working closely with the Studio Manager where needed.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is desired, preferably within a creative studio or animation environment
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to connect well with people; warm, approachable, excellent communication, and strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management skills; attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively are crucial.
Problem-Solving Skills: Possess excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and come up with effective solutions is key.
Professionalism Under Pressure: Maintain a strong sense of humour and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in IT support, ideally gained within a creative studio or fast-paced environment.
High level of professionalism and passion for customer service, demonstrated through a track record of exceeding expectations.
Strong understanding of IT fundamentals, including systems software, applications, hardware, basic networking and communications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively address diverse needs.
Detail-oriented approach, evidenced by a commitment to creating, maintaining and updating technical documentation.
Knowledge of audio/video troubleshooting and support, including video conferencing platforms like Google Meet and Zoom.
Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative spirit.
Desired Competencies:
Demonstrable experience with operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux)
Experience provisioning with OKTA, and MDM tools such as JAMF and PDQ
Experience with basic network troubleshooting.
Experience with creative software such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
Experience with Deadline Render Farm is a plus.
Experience with 3D and Design tools like Cinema 4D and/or Autodesk Maya preferred.
Familiarity with best practices around information security.
