Frontend Developer (React / TypeScript) – Medical Device Software (MDSW)

Job Description

About Usono

Usono is a MedTech company that revolutionizes musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound through dynamic imaging solutions. Our main product, ProbeFix Dynamic, is used by doctors of elite sports organizations such as Lugano FC, Torino FC and research institutions such as Mayo Clinic and MIT. Thanks to our hardware, they unlock new insights in the body in movement, for prevention, diagnosis and rehabilitation.

To extent our product portfolio we build software for medical imaging, including AI-based analysis. Our software is developed as a medical device, which means the code you write will contribute to products that clinicians will rely on for safe and secure patient care.

The primary focus is on creating exceptional front-end user experiences, intuitive workflows, and modern, responsive user interfaces that support clinical and operational users. However, some backend development and maintenance is expected from this role too.

You will work at the intersection of software engineering, UX design, and regulated medical technology, translating complex requirements into elegant, user-cantered solutions that improve healthcare outcomes.

The Job

As Frontend Developer (React / TypeScript), you will work closely with the lead full-stack developer to develop our medical device software propositions. You’ll shape the future of dynamic ultrasound by:

Designing and developing medical device web applications using TypeScript across the stack.

Building highly responsive, accessible, and maintainable front-end solutions using React with Vite and TanStack Router.

Collaborating with UX designers, product owner, clinical experts, and regulatory teams to create intuitive user experiences.

Translating user needs into clean and scalable UI and UX designs.

Creating prototypes of UI and UX concepts to test with end-users.

Participating in usability testing and continuously improve workflows based on user feedback.

Developing and maintaining backend services, APIs, and integrations as TypeScript Lambda (NodeJS22) functions using Hono as the web framework.

Ensuring software complies with medical device quality standards and development processes.

Contributing to code reviews, software architecture decisions, and engineering best practices.

Supporting verification, validation, and documentation activities required in regulated environments.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Frontend Developer with a focus on front-end, UI and UX, with a keen eye for detail.

Required

3+ years of experience in frontend development

Solid programming skills in Typescript.

Good understanding of UI/UX principles, best practises and design process.

Experience working with Git-based workflows and CI pipelines (we use Github).

Experience setting up design systems on Figma (we use shadcn/ui).

Experience with E2E and component web testing tools like Playwright & Storybook.

Documentation discipline and precision.

Excellent communication skills.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

Experience in a regulated industry (medical devices, healthcare, automotive, aerospace, finance), medical specifically is a plus.

Familiarity with BDD and Gherkin/Cucumber in practice.

Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or ISO 14971 (we'll teach you what you need, mindset matters more than standards knowledge).

Familiarity with AWS and infrastructure-as-code environments.

What We Offer

A role where development is engineering: you build systems and your work is part of what makes a medical device trustworthy.

Direct impact on products used in patient care, in a small team where the same people design, build, and ship.

A modern, deliberate tech stack (TypeScript monorepos, Playwright, ephemer PR environments, automated traceability). We invest in tooling instead of manual processes.
