Senior / Lead Data Engineer

As a Senior / Lead Data Engineer, you will work within a data-driven environment focused on the further development and professionalization of the data platform. The main focus of this assignment is the transition to dbt (Data Build Tool) within a Databricks environment. You will work alongside two other Data Engineers, combining hands‑on development with a technical leadership role within the team.

Responsibilities

Execute and guide the transition to dbt within the existing Databricks environment

Develop and optimize data pipelines and transformations hands‑on

Implement best practices around dbt and modern data engineering

Provide technical direction and guidance to the Data Engineering team

Support and mentor two other Data Engineers, actively sharing and transferring knowledge

Ensure the quality, scalability and maintainability of data solutions

Contribute to the further professionalization and standardization of data engineering practices

Collaborate with the team responsible for setting up and managing the Databricks environment

Profile

As a Senior / Lead Data Engineer, you combine strong hands‑on technical expertise with the ability to guide and support other engineers. You have previously executed a transition to dbt and can demonstrate this experience through a specific project. You are independent, communicative and comfortable taking technical ownership while remaining actively involved in development.

Requirements

Senior or Lead-level experience within Data Engineering

Strong hands‑on experience with Databricks

Extensive knowledge and practical experience with dbt (Data Build Tool)

Proven experience executing a transition to dbt

Ability to demonstrate your dbt transition experience through a specific project

Experience developing and optimizing modern data pipelines and transformations

Strong understanding of data engineering best practices

Ability to provide technical guidance to other Data Engineers

Strong communication skills and experience with knowledge sharing and mentoring

Nice‑to-haves

Previous experience as a Lead Data Engineer or technical team lead

Experience coaching or mentoring Data Engineers

Experience working within large‑scale Databricks environments

Experience professionalizing and standardizing data engineering processes
