Technical Applications Engineer
To help us manage and maintain the growing and diverse application landscape, Cboe Clear Europe N.V. (Cboe Clear) is looking to expand its Platform Operations team with an enthusiastic, smart and dynamic all-round Technical Applications Engineer.
Cboe Clear is a successful company of approx. 120 persons with an IT Run department of 15 specialists. We care deeply about business continuity, reliability, and the customer experience. To be able to manage a wide range of hardware, business software and applications, we need our IT colleagues to have a flexible, energetic, and enthusiastic can-do attitude towards all IT related work.
The Cboe Clear IT infrastructure is setup in two data center locations in the Netherlands and in two offices located in Amsterdam and London. All IT operational activities are performed from the office location at Amsterdam World Trade Center.
Job requirements
The IT Run team is responsible for the Cboe Clear IT Infrastructure and business processing.
The Platform Operations team’s focus is at the business processing part. As a Technical Applications Engineer you will be maintaining and controlling all business processes using monitoring and scheduling tools, deploy application releases, patching and maintain supporting scripts.

The ideal candidate will be eager to gain new knowledge especially in the area of Cboe Clear’s business applications with a strong focus on delivering reliable services to our colleagues and clients. You will be looking for continuous improvement and strive for operational excellence.
Job responsibilities
Monitoring production, disaster recovery, and certification systems for issues
Providing day to day support to colleagues and the Cboe Clear Operational departments
Troubleshooting and driving resolution of issues
Managing operational batch processing
Deployment of new releases to Production environments
Supporting on call rotation and occasional weekend testing requirements
Working on Jira tickets assigned to Platform Operations
Providing the Cboe Clear business with information on uptimes, performance, incidents and planned changes
Improve security by centralizing logging and IAM Interfacing with external suppliers in case of incidents, problems or changes to maintain and support the applications
Interfacing with external suppliers in case of incidents, problems or changes to maintain and support the applications
Special projects: supporting implementation of new environments and new business requirements
Knowledge and education
RedHat Enterprise Linux background and experience
High level of proficiency in Linux shell scripting, Python and SQL
The ideal candidate will possess:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience in a technical operations support role
Equivalent of Bachelor’s degree or higher
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills (a must)
Systems Administration experience
Experience with monitoring systems ( Nagios )
Comfort with Scheduling Systems ( Cronacle )
Automated configuration management ( preferably SaltStack )
Vigorous desire to learn clearing business and Cboe Clear technology
Ability to work well in a dynamic team-oriented environment
It would be highly preferable if candidates for the function are experienced in:
Managing and maintaining SWIFT configurations
Basic knowledge of DB administration [Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL Cluster]
