Als Automation Engineer ben je verantwoordelijk voor de betrouwbaarheid, prestaties en verdere ontwikkeling van de industriële automatiseringssystemen binnen onze fabriek in Zaandam.Je ondersteunt productie- en onderhoudsteams bij het analyseren en oplossen van storingen, implementeert verbeteringen en zorgt ervoor dat onze procesbesturingssystemen optimaal blijven functioneren. Daarnaast zorg je voor een correcte implementatie van nieuwe installaties en wijzigingen aan bestaande systemen. Je bent binnen de locatie Zaandam dé specialist op het gebied van industriële automatisering en verantwoordelijk voor onze PLC-, HMI- en SCADA-systemen. Met jouw expertise draag je bij aan een veilige, stabiele en toekomstbestendige productieomgeving.
Verantwoordelijkheden:
- Zorgdragen voor de betrouwbaarheid, prestaties en continue verbetering van de automatiseringssystemen binnen de productielocatie in Zaandam.
- Analyseren en oplossen van storingen aan PLC-, SCADA- en HMI-systemen om downtime tot een minimum te beperken.
- Leiding nemen in root cause analyses en duurzame oplossingen implementeren om de betrouwbaarheid van installaties verder te verbeteren.
- Ontwikkelen, onderhouden en optimaliseren van automatiseringssoftware en process control systemen.
- Ondersteunen bij de installatie, upgrades en commissioning van automatiseringsapparatuur en nieuwe technologieën.
- Nauw samenwerken met de afdelingen Production, Maintenance en Engineering om de operationele efficiëntie verder te verbeteren.
- Onderhoudstechnici trainen en ondersteunen bij automation troubleshooting en het toepassen van best practices.
- Zorgen voor naleving van veiligheids-, milieu- en cybersecurityrichtlijnen.
Kwalificaties:
- Je hebt 2 tot 5 jaar ervaring binnen industrial automation, manufacturing of process control omgevingen.
- Je hebt hands-on ervaring met PLC-, SCADA-, DCS- en/of MES-systemen.
- Je hebt ervaring met Siemens S7 en/of Allen-Bradley control platforms.
- Je hebt kennis van industriële communicatienetwerken zoals Ethernet, Profibus en AS-i.
- Je hebt ervaring met Continuous Improvement en Lean Manufacturing methodologieën.
- Je beschikt over sterke analytical, problem-solving en communication skills.
- Je hebt een afgeronde hbo- of wo-opleiding, of een vergelijkbare technische kwalificatie, in Automation, Elektrotechniek of een vergelijkbare richting.
- Je beheerst zowel Nederlands als Engels vloeiend.

The purpose of the role is to ensure the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of industrial automation systems within the Zaandam manufacturing site. The Automation Engineer supports production and maintenance teams by resolving automation-related issues, implementing system improvements and ensuring the integrity of process control systems.The Automation Engineer ensures correct implementation of new installations or any changes to existing installations. He is accountable for the whole automation part for Zaandam including PLC, HMI and scada systems.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of automation systems across the Zaandam manufacturing site.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC, SCADA and HMI systems to minimize downtime.
- Lead root cause analyses and implement sustainable solutions to improve equipment reliability.
- Develop, maintain and optimize automation software and process control systems.
- Support the installation, upgrade and commissioning of automation equipment and technologies.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve operational efficiency.
- Train and support maintenance technicians in automation troubleshooting and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and cybersecurity standards.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing or process control environments.
- Hands-on experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS and/or MES systems.
- Experience with Siemens S7 and/or Allen-Bradley control platforms.
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks such as Ethernet, Profibus and AS-i.
- Experience working with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical qualification in Automation, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
