Extend and optimise the Python/Rust trading engine behind M1 Capital's market-neutral strategies, across research, execution and on-chain systems.
M1 Capital is a digital asset hedge fund based in Amsterdam. We focus on market-neutral strategies across DeFi and CeFi, combining systematic research, active trading, and risk-managed execution to generate uncorrelated returns across market environments.
The firm manages roughly $180 million across its core funds M1-A1 and M1-B1, plus tokenized fund vehicles.
What you'll do
Extend and optimise the trading engine on our Python/Rust stack
Develop and refine trading algorithms for our market-neutral strategies
Profile and optimise latency-sensitive components
Design order management, risk checks, and execution modules
Integrate DeFi and CEX systems with execution pipelines and monitoring
Conduct quantitative research on strategy design and backtesting
Build backtesting and simulation tools
Maintain databases for data storage and real-time algorithm logging
Perform protocol risk assessments and vet trading venues
Enhance testing, monitoring and observability systems
Participate in code reviews and help establish engineering standards
Support investor relations and fundraising with strategy-level explanations
Preferred skills
2 to 7 years of professional software development, ideally in trading or latency-sensitive systems
Research capability and a nose for identifying opportunities
Strong Python proficiency with the ability to automate systems
Understanding of EVM and/or Solana architecture and DeFi/CeFi
Experience with financial market data and market microstructure
Familiarity with trading infrastructure and backtesting tools
Testing and CI/CD experience with maintainable code practices
Debugging skills for complex asynchronous systems
Ability to simplify code
Based in Amsterdam or open to relocation
