Are you passionate about turning data into real impact? As a Data Engineer at Royal Houdijk, you transform machine, production, and business data into reliable insights and smart data solutions. Your work helps us continuously improve our systems and organization, making them smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable.
About the job
As a Data Engineer you will work at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and industrial automation. You will work with data generated directly by our machines and production systems, as well as data from our business processes.
You will ensure that this data is collected, processed, and made available in the right way. You will then transform data into reliable models, analyses, reports, and dashboards that provide real value to both our colleagues and customers.
You will work with technologies such as Python, SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Power BI, and APIs. You don't need to be an expert in every area from day one. Depending on your experience, we will give you plenty of opportunities to further develop your skills and grow within the role.
Your key responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines for data from machines, production systems, databases, files, and external sources.
Collect, transform, and make data available for a variety of applications.
Develop and maintain data models and datasets for reporting and analysis.
Monitor, clean, and validate data, and structurally resolve issues related to data quality, completeness, and accuracy.
Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, KPIs, and other data-driven information products.
Test data pipelines, calculations, definitions, reports, and access permissions.
Document test results and changes following implementation.
Support implementation and user acceptance testing (UAT).

What you can expect:
A monthly salary between €3.992 and €5.148 (based on a 40‑hour workweek), with opportunities for further growth through specialization or career development.
27 vacation days and 13 additional leave days (ADV) in accordance with the Metalektro collective labor agreement.
The option to “sell” unused ADV days each year.

A healthy work‑life balance, with flexibility to organize your working hours.
Internal and external training opportunities to support your personal development and to maintain your product and system knowledge.
What you bring
You are passionate about data, technology, and the real‑world processes behind them. You don't just want to know what the numbers are telling you, you also want to understand where the data comes from and how it can be used to improve our machines, processes, and decision‑making.
You are analytical and detail‑oriented, while also taking a pragmatic approach. In addition, you are able to explain technical details in a clear and accessible way to both technical and non‑technical colleagues.
Key qualifications:
A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a comparable technical field.
Experience with, or a strong motivation to learn, Python and SQL.
Knowledge of or an interest in data modelling, databases, APIs, cloud services, and data management.
A quality‑driven mindset, with a strong focus on reliability, security, privacy, documentation, and maintainability.
Good command of both Dutch and English, spoken and written.
An independent and proactive approach to work, while actively seeking collaboration with colleagues and internal users.
Providing a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) may be part of the application process.
