Requirements Main JobPurpose:
· Innovation PMO is part of our ProjectManagement, and is aligned to client’s Growth Fundamentals to deliver impactfulinnovation.
· For reference, the Innovation PMO’s missionstatement is “We are the go to team for facilitating excellent project deliveryin innovation.Our people, processes,tools and systems provide the expertise to challenge timelines in order toaccelerate plans or combat delays, putting the appropriate risk profile inplace.Our support enables decisionmaking to happen at the right time, with the right information, always ensuringwe are aligned with Clients vision and objectives”.
· Innovation PMO is a specialist departmentresponsible for providing professional management to complex innovationprojects to ensure quality and improve reliability of on time delivery.As part of a service function for the BPCdivision, our PMs are always looking to add value to innovation projects,assessing the best approach and ways of working to suit and enhance the crossfunctional teams they support.This roleis varied and challenging and will need someone who can adapt and flex theirapproach to set themselves and their project teams up for success.
· Innovation Project Managers are responsible forthe planning, governance and facilitation of allocated complex innovationprojects (3-4 complex project on a rolling basis).They are expected to drive ways of workingwith cross functional specialists as project teams to achieve better, fasterand more efficient innovation project delivery, utilising digital tools wherepossible.
KeyAccountabilities:
· Management of the BPC and HC Innovation PMOOperation (Resource Allocation, Monitoring & Reporting) – working withSenior Stakeholders across both divisions to understand strategic priorities,goals and objectives within the Categories.Allocate the appropriate level of PMO services to support in deliveringagainst objectives, track progress and report back.Attendance to LT’s is required on a regularbasis to provide ongoing visibility of PMO offering, project pipeline andupcoming capacity.
· Innovation PMO Centre of Excellence - Define andland service offerings that support Innovation PMO in being a Centre ofExcellence. Lead key workstreams of the Innovation PMO Roadmap that enhanceofferings from PMO.Be an active andintegral part of the Innovation PMO Centre of Excellence – provide additionalservices that support project and programme teams within UL (e.g. workshopfacilitation, training, risk assessment sessions etc.)
· Drive Best in Class Reporting & Quality Data– Utilise available tools and systems to drive accurate and timely reporting,both internally to support in running the operation and externally to keystakeholders.Utilise and promotePhoenix across the division, supporting with and cascading information onsystem updates and improvements.Overall responsibility for driving division innovation speed improvementand delivery, through adoption of standard tools, project management disciplineand Risk analysis. Develop and drive Portfolio Management process andcorresponding reporting.
· Define and Land Process Enhancements &Improvements – Process improvement of the PMO offering and positioning thiswith the divisions. Develop and drive new capabilities and methodologies toenable timely and fast delivery of complex innovation projects.
· Team Leadership – Lead a team of ProjectManagers and remote Associate Project Mangers made up of internal FTEs andthird-party representatives, supporting superior and reliable project deliveryfor PMO managed projects.Understandcapabilities, skills and development opportunities that ensure the team membersare set up for and can achieve success. Rapidly gain in-depth understanding ofthe overall business priorities, technologies and processes across the Divisionto guide project managers in project understanding and problem-solving process.
· Communication & Engagement – Communicate andengage with divisional stakeholders at varying levels and in a multitude oflocations.Provide visibility of the PMOservices offered and raise the awareness of the team and the value it brings(e.g. formal meetings, ad-hoc presentations, status updates).
· Be a representative and advocate of theInnovation PMO team
ProfessionalSkills:
Strong Division and innovation process knowledge- Must understand the category to create aligned and scalable processes
Proven knowledge and experience ofproject delivery within fast pacedbusiness.Proven experience in managinginnovation and development projects to achieve successful project outcomes
Project Management: External certification (e.g.IPMA, APM, PMI, Prince2)
Strong experience and skilled in MS Project
Strong relationship building and interpersonalskills, experience in leading, coaching or mentoring teams and individualsdirectly
Effective communicator at all levels, with theability to impact and influence.
Good presentation skills are required, plus theability to conduct effective meetings and presentations with large teams.
Able to demonstrate good capability in problemsolving, decision making and making sound judgement in time pressuredsituations
Holding teams accountable for delivering againstplan, being assertive but not aggressive
Ability to think strategically to support thedevelopment of the Innovation PMO team
Effectively lead and influence change management
Professional and positive approach – a can doattitude with a willingness to go the extra mile when required.Dynamic, self-motivated and self-sufficient.
Ability to cope with pressure and ability toflex and adapt ways of working to suit the environment
ExperienceRequired:
A solid understanding of innovation / NPDProcesses is essential
At least 6 years of Business experience,preferably in Project Management
Experience in leading, coaching or mentoringteams and individuals.
Operations experience in FMCG products (supplychain, manufacturing, consulting, technical, finance or business), BPC/HomeCare division experience is desirable
Experience working with 3rd Party providerswould be useful
Experience in workshop facilitation or trainingdevelopment / delivery is desirable
